Uppsala Athletics Arena

The arena

Uppsala Athletics Arena (or Friidrottsarena in Swedish) is a new, athletics only, arena built in 2018 next to our indoor facility IFU Arena. The arena has been home to a bunch of Swedish Championships, renging from the 2022 Swedish Youth Championships to the 2020 Swedish Senior Championships and the Swedish Senior Team Championships in 2022, as well as the 2019 Sweden-Finland-Estonia Match in multi-events.

Every year in the end of August Uppsalaspelen is held as our big outdoor competition with around 600 participants. in 2023 for the first time we had the possibility to use our new stands on the back strait as well as being able to ensure back wind due to dual timing systems.

Running tracks

Newly laid tracks in 2020 for the Swedish Senior Championships. 8 lanes around the track. Timing equipment on both sides to ensure backwind on non-championship competions.

High jump‎, shot put, discus & hammer

The throwing corner including the high jump matresses. Daniel Ståhl has the arena record in the discus throw at 71.47m från the Swedish Senior Team Championships in 2022.

Long jump

The long jump run-ups right in front of the main stands. There is always a possibility to do a late switch of sides to ensure the best wind possible due to dual long jump pits in two directions.

Calling

The calling tent, this is where the athletes go before entering the arena on the competition day.

Athletes entrence

This is where all the athletes and coaches enter the arena.

Public entrence

The main and public entrence for everyone who is not participating or working at the Virtus Open European Chamionships.

Food and beer tent

The food and beer tent where we will sell hamburgers and hot dogs from Andersson & Tillman as well as coffee, a great selection of beverges and Swedish fika.

Team area

On the thowing field behind the main stands is a quiet spot for the athletes and team members to set up their tents if wanted.
